AdaptCMS Update

It's been a while since the last update, with some progress on 2.0.2 but mainly have let 2.0.1 settle. Work has been started back up, there will be a slight delay with needing some initial brainstorming and the next version of AdaptCMS will be a minor update with a more major version coming soon after that.

As of now the most significant aspects of 2.0.2 is the phpBB integration and tagging. Even though tagging has been in the system, more importance will be put into it other than simply being a field you can use when adding content in the ACP. As well the social features of AdaptCMS will get some work, mainly in the bug fixing area but also some additions such as group images and an enhanced template.

AdaptCMS 2.0.1 Released

Insane Visions is excited to announce the next release, AdaptCMS 2.0.1 now available for download.

Despite being a "minor version", this release still packs quite a bit more than we originally planned. The biggest part is a whole lot of bugs fixed, from the mod_rewrite to the plugins being fixed and in many other areas. Another part was the security was enhanced, not just improving it in the social area of the site but a newly implemented "SALT" method. This makes it extremely difficult for anyone to hack your website and gain entry as the salt password is randomly generated for each Adapt website and unless they gain access to your MySQL backend, they can't get password hashes. The third part is of course the features!

One new feature is the plugins feature was worked on and along with it is new plugins to 2.0 "Sitemap", "TinyURL" and "Affiliates". These let you generate a sitemap on your website automatically for search engines, tinyurl simply gives you short URL's for any link you wish and affiliates is a link manager of sorts, letting you keep a list of affiliates which you can also track traffic out. Administration for the Social feature of Adapt is also now in, letting staff manage user blogs as well as upload new avatars that can be used or delete ones users have uploaded.

There are also many minor features such as being able to select an author when managing content, now being able to leave comments on static pages, new main ACP page (matches version, shows latest news and notes), forgot password feature, two different date formats (june 9, 11 or 5 mins ago), timzone selector and much more.

With a short release period expect to see the next version, AdaptCMS 2.0.2, in the next month-month and a half.

AdaptCMS.com Tweaks

AdaptCMS 2.0.1 is currently being worked on but in the meantime we are currently working on the AdaptCMS.com website. The bigger changes aren't online yet, but some of the others include a site list page, updated demo page (now hosted on opensourcecms), a few misceleaneous fixes and changes as well as a finished support page which provides numerous areas to get support for AdaptCMS.

Whats upcoming is a new look homepage which instead of a news only type look, will take a more focused look highlighting certain things though the pages you see linked to, will remain.

The focus of the official AdaptCMS site used to be side by side with Insane Visions as the latest source and it is for official news but a re-focus as information for AdaptCMS with latest release news and tidbits of the script posted on Insane Visions.com will occur likely in the coming week. Stay tuned.

AdaptCMS 2.0.0 Released

Insane Visions has announced the major release of AdaptCMS 2.0, available now for download!

Although, unfortunately, many delays the biggest version since the very first version of AdaptCMS features a whole new look, completely re-written and brand new features. The template system was one of the major changes, introducing smarty to power the system instead of the in-house setup. This enables template caching, more tagging and an overall better experience.

Another major overhaul over 1.5 was the media, formerly known as "Gallery", feature. The admin side of things it looks completely different but is organized in a much user friendly way, but has even more functionality than before. In the frontend media features like videos is possible as well as on the fly slideshows.

There's really too much new and improved things to mention here, but among a few of the big ones is a very nifty File Release system, letting you download the latest AdaptCMS files right from your administrative panel. Not only that, but you can select from multiple releases and see notes on a file being updated - important for security or bugs. Social is also a major new feature in AdaptCMS featuring things like messages, a friends list, a personal blog, twitter-like status and more.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, but in traditional AdaptCMS fashion 2.0.0 continues and achieves it better as a CMS that can be used for any website with customization in every aspect so you can create the website you want.

AdaptCMS 2.0.2 Beta Released

After a lengthy delay Insane Visions is happy to announce that the AdaptCMS 2.0.2 Beta has been released!

Despite the delay there were many numerous bugs fixed as well as numerous new features and one more beta is expected to release as early as next week.

ACP Quick Links - click a little add button on any ACP page and a quick link is added to the main acp area - a box where you can edit and change the name or insert anything in!
Promote - Post content and a page shows features to help promote your article such as twitter and others.

The next beta will likely be more features or finished polishing on some, some partial done features may be removed temporarily until they are finished for the final 2.0 release or held until a later release.

Insane Visions is pleased to announce a new beta for AdaptCMS 2.0 - AdaptCMS 2.0.1 Beta. This new version includes all the core files along with the newest files, which 2.0.0 users can just get through there admin control panel.

This is not a major upgrade and it only includes a few new features, but a lot of bugs fixed - including some major ones.

Share - You can now create an IV account to use with the feature right from your ACP! As well the login issues should be fixed.
Content Preview - A new, nifty feature that lets you preview the content without posting. At the moment it's just basic fields but may be expanded.
Content Relating - The biggest improvement with numerous bugs from linking to media, in a list data if blank would be used with an un-related item, etc.)

In the next beta expect to see more features than just bug fixes.

AdaptCMS 2.0 Beta - Update Upcoming

The new updating scheme will be starting soon - much more frequent then in any other Insane Visions product before and it will start with AdaptCMS 2.0.1 Beta. The idea is to push out bug fixes often with incremental changes and then the 2.x versions become moreso features than bugs/fixes.

This will help the activity look better - as it is, it looks like since 1.5 AdaptCMS has been dead and if not for then, it would look like no progress had been done between 2.0 and 2.1 in a 3 month or so period. This will also get bugs fixed quickly - which we've already done and is still the best to use the File Manager, but for the general public they also have an avenue.

Already there have been numerous content bugs fixed - mostly relation bugs when linking articles together in certain situations as well as linking to media. Look for a possible release in the next 1-2 weeks.

AdaptCMS.com Re-Launched

To reflect the total focus on the recently released beta of AdaptCMS 2.0 and in the near future, final version, AdaptCMS.com has been re-launched with the frontend design featured in the script and is also running on the latest version of AdaptCMS 2.0.

There is still a little work left to do, but it is functioning. Some work on the pages is upcoming closer to release of the final version of AdaptCMS 2.0, as well the news will end up being fed right through Insane Visions. Stay tuned for updates.

Insane Visions is relieved and happy to announce the beta relelase of AdaptCMS 2.0.0! The process continues as 2.0.0 Beta is an open process, open to anybody to try out - no registration required.

The new beta is the very first release of the AdaptCMS 2.x line and if you have used AdaptCMS before, some things will seem familiar but overall is a different experience. Being the first version in the line, even with a private beta, it is noted that the chance of bugs is decently high - if you have a big successful site, don't run the beta on it.

AdaptCMS 2.0 - Beta coming Shortly

Okay so the Beta and AdaptCMS 2.0 itself has seen numerous delays but it will be worth it. Regardless, the beta will be released very soon - with the blogs finished and the install data updated, now some basic testing to checkout the install and make sure it is a stable install - after that, release.

Seeing as that isn't much at all I would expect this weekend, more than likely Saturday. Stay tuned! (and it will be a PUBLIC beta)
