AdaptCMS 2.0 - Beta coming Shortly
Posted: June 11, 2010 - 12:28 am (News)

Okay so the Beta and AdaptCMS 2.0 itself has seen numerous delays but it will be worth it. Regardless, the beta will be released very soon - with the blogs finished and the install data updated, now some basic testing to checkout the install and make sure it is a stable install - after that, release.

Seeing as that isn't much at all I would expect this weekend, more than likely Saturday. Stay tuned! (and it will be a PUBLIC beta)

AdaptCMS 2.0 - New Details
Posted: April 09, 2010 - 8:15 pm (News)

After some delays the new design for AdaptCMS was received and fully implemented this past week - frontend and backend. There will be pics up very soon! In the meantime I figured I'd announce a big detail I thought I had already announced:

AdaptCMS 2.0 will be free, released under the GPL License

The Lite and Pro versions of AdaptCMS were a pain to manage and before I was quite low on money so I needed some income - this time I do have money and have already spent some on AdaptCMS. This does open the script to a different audience and hopefully is not taken as a negative - just because it is free only now, do not expect the quality to be worse or more limited...instead 2.0 will be much better.

Private Beta

With the design finished, the install file was started and functioning leading to a small private beta starting up - just need to do the upgrade. This does not mean a public beta isn't happening, I just needed something small to weed out any large bugs and if the conditions are fine a public beta is very possible.

Stay tuned for updates - I'll post some pictures of 2.0 with the new design in the next few days and hopefully will have news on any public beta in the next week.

AdaptCMS 2.0 - March 26th
Posted: March 26, 2010 - 10:36 pm (Blog)

With the recent status change of AdaptCMS 2.0 from Alpha to Beta and the design being finished, I figured it was time to write another blog and try to do some catch up - there has been a large amount of work done since the last blog.

The release is still a decent ways off but the private beta should be in the next week or two, public beta could be a month or so after that. (depending on some things) Not only has work been done on the AdaptCMS features (including a lot on the social functionality), but also the share feature and related IV-integrated features like file releases.

But anyways, in this Blog I'll be going over the Social Feature (which outside of blogs and refining on messages, is done), File Releases and more. Onto the blog.

AdaptCMS 2.0 - Alpha to Beta
Posted: March 17, 2010 - 12:19 am (News)

Still with a long ways to go, nonetheless, AdaptCMS 2.0 has gone from Alpha to the start of Beta stage. This means the script is somewhat stable - although serious testing is still a bit off.

There is still a lot of work left before a Beta is released but one of the important steps - a design - is in progress with the default frontend layout already done! Talking about progress, there has been a lot lately after a break - much work on the social and share features especially.

But I'll talk about that stuff in the upcoming blog. Stay tuned.

AdaptCMS 2.0 - January 31st
Posted: February 01, 2010 - 10:45 pm (Blog)

With the recent significant work done on the Alpha build of AdaptCMS 2.0, I figured it was time for a blog on the progress.

Overall the status of the script is good, but an actual release - let alone beta release is still a ways off. The ACP and basic frontend features are nearing completion - but new features, refinement, new design and then the new adaptcms.com/insanevisions.com websites.

But in the near term the basics of most of the features should be wrapped up soon - next will be new features as well as starting on some of the insanevisions/adaptcms new websites. I'll be getting designs pretty soon.

Anyways, onto the blog.

AdaptCMS 2.0 Mini-Update #2
Posted: January 02, 2010 - 7:09 pm (News)

Since the last update more of the background stuff has been done, but that'll change with the upcoming work. Work will begin on the frontend with some of the basics being done and frontend features implemented and then it'll go back to the ACP with work on the "Share" features and some more advanced features, along with the skinning of the ACP into templates.

Thus far a lot of the work has been of the basic modules and not the new features which will change with the basics of the frontend done. As well, the idea of "re-doing" adaptCMS hasn't been a focus yet as a lot of the code is good - but 2.0 will have a lot of significant differences from 1.0, that's for sure.

Stay tuned for more frequent updates.

AdaptCMS 2.0 Mini-Update #1
Posted: December 06, 2009 - 11:35 pm (News)

Just a brief update on the progress of AdaptCMS 2.0, a new blog with more features discussed will go up this week. Onto the update:

"Since the last update there's been a good amount of progress - some basic modules are done such as - Users, Groups, Levels, Content, Sections, Fields. Now it may sound like the script is getting close to completion but it isn't. Just those modules are only partially done - basically functioning and with the new SQL structure but new features aren't implemented yet, I want to get the whole basic cp done and then go from there.

I'm hoping to soon have the basic admin modules done - Comments, Files/Media, Pages, Polls, Settings, Skins. That doesn't include things like the support area which will be worked on in conjunction with improving the AdaptCMS v1 code and implementing new features. The frontend itself won't even be started for a little while.

Anyway that about wraps it up. I will have a demo of 2.0 up sometime this week."

AdaptCMS 1.5 Release - Afterthoughts
Posted: July 17, 2009 - 1:12 am (News)

With the release of AdaptCMS 1.5 (linky), attention now goes to a future 2.0 version of the CMS. That version will not be out for quite some times, numerous months. The reason being that the script will be completely revamped and in some areas - re-written. As well it will be sporting a completely new look.

As with all versions, the brainstorming is beginning already - although it will be much longer than normal. Once some ideas on what the admin area and frontend will look like are done - the design work can be started up in the meantime of even more brainstorming and planning.

AdaptCMS 1.5 Released
Posted: July 05, 2009 - 3:51 pm (News)

Insane Visions has announced the release of AdaptCMS Lite 1.5 and AdaptCMS Pro 1.5, both available to download/purchase!

AdaptCMS 1.5 is largely a minor version, as it comes inbetween 1.4 and the major version, AdaptCMS 2.0. Although minor, this version is more than a few bug fixes - there are numerous new features. The biggest new feature is tagging and "Quick Edit". With tagging you can take advantage of such Web 2.0 features as a "Tag Cloud" and also help visitors search easier. A very useful "Quick Edit" feature has also been added, letting staff/admins quickly edit articles from thefrontend of the site.

AdaptCMS 1.5 Releasing shortly, 2.0 work begins
Posted: July 01, 2009 - 10:43 pm (News)

Updates haven't been occurring for a while, but the good news is that AdaptCMS 1.5 will be releasing soon. Despite what I expected, the beta and final version will be very similar. This will mean several features won't appear until 2.0 (unless they're cut), the good news being a final version of the script will be out shortly. Since I'll be on "kind of" a vacation nextFriday/Saturday, I'm shooting for a release between this Friday-Sunday.

In another news, but still AdaptCMS related, work has VERY slowly started on the big 2.0 version. By work I mean brainstorming and it will continue to be brainstorming for a little while, actual work may not even begin until later July. Part of the reason is I'll be spending a good amount of money on a re-design of AdaptCMS. This includes a new admin skin, frontend skin and new AdaptCMS.com.

Before the release of 2.0 (a ways to go) a new version and look of this site will go up too, but as said, that's a ways to go. Once 1.5 is released a lot of brainstorming will be done on 2.0, as it will be the biggest release since the first version.

Stay tuned this weekend for the very likely release of AdaptCMS 1.5.

AdaptCMS 1.4 - New Details
Posted: January 01, 2009 - 11:41 pm (News)

Although the hopeful beta release of AdaptCMS 1.4 has been passed, the good news is that it will be out this weekend. Among the changes mentioned previously, two of the biggest additions help make AdaptCMS more adaptable then ever before.

One aspect that I've wanted in for quite a while, global custom fields, finally are now a reality. On the frontpage template (homepage_content), say you want to show an icon as you have a field added for it - no problem. But even more useful, say you have a gaming website and on the review list you want to edit the template (content_list) to show the system the review is for or even the score - no problem.

The usefulness of global custom fields helps make AdaptCMS adaptable to more and more websites as well as making it less and less needed to do custom coding in order to get something to work. You can even use related fields! (for example, a game related to a review...you could display the game summary with a review related to it - continue for the 2nd addition)

AdaptCMS 1.4 Beta releasing soon
Posted: December 21, 2008 - 7:06 pm (News)

It's been a long two months and with recent developments I can finally post some good news - the AdaptCMS 1.4 Beta will be releasing soon. There are still a few features left to do, but the beta releasing before the end of the year is a decent chance.

For those that have been following the development of AdaptCMS and/or AdaptBB, I am sorry for the severe lack of updates the past two months and that will be changing. As with 1.3, the beta for AdaptCMS 1.4 will be a mostly public beta - you can get it as long as you are a registered member here and fill in a few fields to become a beta tester.

Already in the new version of AdaptCMS is an admin search feature, refined users/guests online function, pagination for various areas of the frontend, a cool new postpone feature for articles and more. In the meantime of now and beta release will be work on a resize feature for uploading images, article quick edit and a good possibility of for example a game site - linking to a page based on field data. (ex. website.com/area/system-ps3)

Stay tuned for the release of the Beta as well as an update on AdaptBB 1.0.

URGENT: AdaptCMS 1.3 Security Fix Released
Posted: October 03, 2008 - 8:20 pm (News)

For the first time with AdaptCMS, Insane Visions has issued an urgent security fix. This recent security hole was discovered by the group at Milw0rm. Upon hearing about this security hole we immediately fixed the problem in a matter of minutes and are now issuing this fix.

The Security Hole was related to the new "Check User" feature in AdaptCMS Lite 1.3 and AdaptCMS Pro 1.3. When signing up you would enter the username desired, once moving to the password field a box would appear saying whether the username was taken or not. The issue was the PHP that checks to see if the username is taken did not use any safe guards incase of SQL injection. The worst consequence is the stealing of the MD5 hash of a users password but NO passwords themselves were vulnerable to this problem.

This fix is simply one file which goes into the "includes/" folder. We recommend that all AdaptCMS Lite users upload this fixed file immediately. Thank you.

AdaptCMS 1.4 - September 17th
Posted: September 17, 2008 - 3:57 pm (Blog)

With the announcement that AdaptCMS 1.4 would be delayed, I did want to get a start on it with the features already thought of and luckily I was able to. Some of the features already done in AdaptCMS 1.4 aren't "huge" but useful.

  • Pagination - For the front main page and section pages, this has been something important missing so visitors can see all past articles.
  • Users Online - Pretty small but users and guests online have been adjusted so that the # of users online is more efficient and guests online now includes bots. When listing users online, it does list bots.
  • Comments Quote - Another small but nifty feature, you simple click on "Quote" by the comment you want to quote and it inserts the comment within quote tags into the text area, just making commenting easier.
  • Admin Search - Suggested to me not long ago, located above the "Support Search" feature, you can easily search articles, comments, fields, files, galleries, pages, settings, templates and users.
  • Postpone Article - This is a feature in OneCMS, but much better. You can select a date and time for the article to be published at that time. Before that time it will only be visible in the admin panel, but can be manually published at any time.

It may or may not seem like a lot, it isn't that much though it's some nifty useful stuff so far. This blog today is kind of like a "micro-blog", just briefly describing some of the new features, in this case just what's done so far.
