AdaptCMS 1.4 Delayed

It's been a little slow lately the past few weeks here at Insane Visions. Working on a script from the ground up (AdaptBB) is quite a tedious task as well as a fun thing to do. The forum script is shaping up quite nicely so far, but there is still a LOT of work to do on the forums themselves, not even including some of the unique features.
With all that said AdaptCMS 1.4 will be delayed. I know an "official release" is never given, but AdaptCMS 1.0-1.3 were released two months apart. However with work on AdaptBB 1.0 as well as another Insane Visions-related website being worked on and various other things, I don't expect to release 1.4 until sometime in October.
At this point we are still brainstorming and we will begin work on the new version shortly, but we would like your feedback! Check out this topic and leave any suggestions for features or anything else you would like to see in AdaptCMS 1.4. Stay tuned!

AdaptCMS 1.3 - Releasing this Week

I know the lack of updates the past few weeks may be taken by some that little work has been done and/or AdaptCMS 1.3 won't be out for a while longer, but they're wrong, infact AdaptCMS Lite/Pro 1.3 will release this week! Practically most of the past few weeks has been spent slowly starting on AdaptBB, but mostly working on the big Read Me that will be premiering in AdaptCMS 1.3.
With AdaptCMS 1.3 being now the second large version in a row, you can expect a lot of new things! Exclusive in Pro 1.3 are two new plugins - TinyURL and Form Builder, as well as Support Search 1.1. Both Lite and Pro welcome an enhance Statistics module, informative and large Read Me, a revolutionary new "File Release System" and so much more!

Updates Log - Redone

I know between a big new version of AdaptCMS and a simple log, the choice is obvious, but today I have both to tell you about! First of a tidbit of news, but the AdaptCMS Lite 1.3 Beta should go up sometime next week. Don't forget to signup!
In other news, I've re-done the Updates Log. I have a particular file where I kind of organize what to do, what to fix, etc. on AdaptCMS and I update it daily (at least). So I went ahead and hooked it up to the updates log, you now see the file along with the latest updates. Enjoy!

AdaptCMS 1.3 - June 13th

Editors Note: With our new blog here at AdaptCMS.com, we'll be doing some mini-blogs about new features upcoming and recently finished, ideas and such. Expect to see them a few times a month!
It's been now a little over a month since the release of AdaptCMS 1.2 and a few weeks since the last blog and it seems like release is so far away. When working on v1.2 it seemed like it was going to be the only major version (other than 1.0) until 1.5, now it seems that I was wrong.
Whether or not 1.3 is a Major version really depends on whether User Subscriptions make it in or not. I really would like to try to get it in, it would delay release, but at the same time the Read Me isn't exactly close to being finished at this point and the extra time would be useful.
Although I don't know when 1.3 will be out, I can say it won't be for a little while (a Beta will probably be out in late June or early-mid July) and that there are still quite a bit left to do, but it already feels like a major version!

AdaptCMS v1.2 - Releasing Monday

I apologize for the lack of updates, much work in the past few weeks has been going towards GTA IV Universe. However I do have good news, AdaptCMS Lite and Pro v1.2 will be releasing Monday.
Among many security enhancements and bug fixes, there will also be numerous new features in both AdaptCMS Lite and AdaptCMS Pro. The Polls and Statistics have been greatly enhanced, a new Trackback feature, bad word filter and much more.

AdaptCMS v1.2 - Major Version (kinda)

After a week without posting, I feel I need to post something and I have a bit of something to reveal.
I'm always pretty quiet about the progress of AdaptCMS (always thinking how it could be incorporated into the site) and aside from a blog about the features in the next version, it's a mystery until release. (same with OneCMS) However, v1.2 of AdaptCMS will (kind of) be a major version.
I say this because several things like stats and polls have been re-structured as well as several core features, cookies have been switched to sessions and several major features are awaiting to be done, including Subscriptions, which would make big changes. I hate to call 1.2 a "Major Version", but it is not a minor upgrade. I'll call it a "mini, major version".
I'll be doing another blog about site making, if you have any suggestion on what to cover or suggestions for what our next tutorial should be, leave a comment or contact us.

AdaptCMS Versioning

With AdaptCMS released and doing well, I can now focus on v1.1, I've already thought of a lot of great things and one focal point is the style of versioning for AdaptCMS, I wanted to explain.
Pretty much, it will stick to the style of OneCMS, rather than BlogPHP. BlogPHP was basically v1.0, v2.0 and v3.0. The problem with this is that limits the amount of versions and would mean no minimal updates. The OneCMS style of v2.0, 2.1, 2.2, etc. is the preferred choice and will be the versioning for AdaptCMS. This allows a version to happen often, but not a "major" version.
At this point, the thought is a v1.1-1.5 and then a v2.0, which would be a major version. On another note, v1.1 details should be revealed early next week with (hopefully) some screen shots. The brainstorming phase is practically done, so at this point the actual coding is just now starting.

Release Thoughts

For those that are web developers or really the creator of any product, you know that the few weeks after release are very important. The first version of AdaptCMS went through those two weeks with bad results, however I have good news.
AdaptCMS Lite is now listed at numerous script directories, the top ones being the top one Hotscripts as well as The PHP Resource Index and many others. The only "big one" I am awaiting is OpenSourceCMS, which gives OneCMS a LOT of exposure at the moment. Due to a small issue in the installation file, download numbers are skewed, but doing well.
AdaptCMS Pro is also listed at a lot of directories, it's induction into Hotscripts is pending. There also has already been several buyers.
As a whole, the "afterwards" of release is going well. AdaptCMS.com, statistically has been beating out normal traffic by x10. Lite being on OpenSourceCMS will help a lot, hopefully that will happen soon. Overall, I am pleased. In the coming weeks there will be some news on what's the next Insane Visions script and v1.1 for AdaptCMS! Stay tuned.

AdaptCMS Lite - Demo Online

AdaptCMS Lite v1.0 - Beta Signup

AdaptCMS Lite v1.0 will be releasing in the coming weeks and it needs beta testers. For the first time in Insane Visions history, this beta will be, essentially, a public beta. The only clause is that you are a registered member and then you fill out a form.
If you want to participate with the beta, simply go to that link above and make sure you are logged in (if not, then register) and fill out a few fields such as you're website and AIM.
Then when the Beta is released, you will be able to download it by clicking on the "Beta" link and wuvala! To make it even easier, an e-mail will be sent out to all those signed up once the Beta is released. Thanks!

AdaptCMS Lite - Coming

At this point I can confidently say that AdaptCMS Lite WILL happen. I have some ideas of what will separate Pro and Lite, that will be revealed not too long from now. AdaptCMS Lite, when released, will be available to download on sourceforge (application pending) and will be released under the GNU GPL license, like OneCMS.
Without really starting much on AdaptCMS Lite, I can say that most of the major features and functions from AdaptCMS v1, will stay. Most of the differences between Lite and Pro are expected to be new features and functions.
Lastly keep an eye out for the upcoming launch of both the official AdaptCMS Pro and AdaptCMS Lite websites.
